Night Diver

The thought of dipping below the surface at night seems mysterious, yet so alluring. Although you've been scuba diving at a site many times before, at night you drop into a whole new world and watch it come to life under the glow of your dive light. As a Night Diver you will experience how the scene changes as day creatures retire and nocturnal organisms emerge.

Become a Night Diver

Can Open Water Divers dive at night? Yes, but proper training will make your first night dive more enjoyable. You’ll learn how to navigate in the dark, where the most interesting creatures hang out, and gain night diving tips from your instructor.

Practice underwater navigation at night and learn how to find entry and exit points in the dark. Your instructor will share night diving tips, teach you how to stay in contact with your buddy, and avoid disorientation.

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving. Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course. Instructors and dive center staff are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive. If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).

The first dive of the Night Diver Specialty course may count toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask us about how to earn credit.
